Re: What WIPs are you following? -- Laura, 01:05:10 08/24/02 Sat (NoHost/66.65.93.245)
I read the Geek series at your recommendation--very good! I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I just put up the "Fiction by Pairing" page on this site tonight, so if you go there you can find some stories with other pairings. I still have *so* many more stories that I want to add, but it's slow going.
I would love it if you'd promo this site. Thank you!
And hey, maybe we can get someone to post on this message board other than us two, lol. :)

Hi, Lanie.
While I don't read S/W, the TWoP boards have had a thread about it for the past week. Try this URL and go to the "Pearls" thread:
http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/ijsbb/forum.cgi?action=list&forum=107&fromdays=2
If that doesn't work, just go to the main page and follow the links to BTVS and then fanfiction. The pairing isn't really my style, but from what I've heard, the niche has some wonderful fic :).

Hello. Just saw the forum header and decided to pop a post in.
As for WIP's, well, unfortunately, I too am attempting to follow way too many. First, there are all the ones on the SS and Gutter boards (will somebody please kick Moosey's ass into gear?), and then the usual. Estepheia's TPTP, Glimpses, and other delicious fic recs that I get from here and there.
Between all those and trying to wrap my head around the sequel (or maybe it's the main story) that follows "Shepherd" is making my computer time a headachey, back breaking experience.
But hey! Fun, innit?
Kimi

Oooh, Kimi's writing a sequel to "Shepherd"! I'm very happy about that. I love the Voicesverse, and it seems like it gets better with every story.

Golly...there used to be so many, and then I started writing and it all went to hell. I'm on Barb's fic-notification list, and I was horrified to read the latest chapter of 'Necessary Evils' and realize that I couldn't remember what the hell was going on. So now I have to start all over with that one.
Now, honestly?
'Redeeming Spike's Ass' by Valerie
'Waking The Dead' by Annie Sewell-Jennings
'Perfect World' by cousinjean
'Glimpses' by Harmonyfb (If you don't know this one, it's a kick-ass depiction of Season 2 Spike. You may not remember this, but once upon a time Spike was cool, and canny, and bad. No, really! It's true!)
Seriously, I cannot tell you how much I'm dying to browse this site in particular at my leisure and sate myself on fanfic. It's one of my motivations to get other stuff finished up.

That used to happen to me too with "Necessary Evils," but these last few chapters have been so intense. I end up thinking about the story in my free time sometimes, because I want to badly to find out what will happen next. The whole dechipping storyline just has me fascinated--it's exactly what I wished ME would have done, and Barb handles it so well. She explores the real ambiguities and also possibilities in Spike's nature and his relationship with Buffy, instead of judging him "evil" and the relationship "impossible" like ME does. And her dark Willow is much more interesting than ME's--she doesn't have the convenient "addict" excuse; she's really out of control because she thinks she's doing the right thing.
The story was always good, but lately it's been amazing.

Quick summary: After his confrontation with Willow made Spike realize his infatuation for Buffy was merely a cover for his deep-seated lust for Willow, he's headed back to L.A. to keep an appointment with the demon surgeon who did James's little heart operation--object, sexual reassignment. Meanwhile, D'Hoffryn offers Buffy several attractive 401K plans if she'll relocate to Arashmahar, and Giles and Xander make plans to break their surprising news to Anya.
(Actually I frequently forget what's happening in it myself...)

Let's see. Y'all have already mentioned many of the stories I've been reading; I'm especially in love with "I'll Fly Away" (goodness, no new chapters since last month. Horrors!)
Here are a few more:
Base Elements by Limber. Very enigmatic, and creates suspense in the best way -- not by action, but what is not said.
Bag of Bones by Shadowlass. This is still in its early stages, but it's also building up a lovely sense of character-driven suspense.
The Passage of Memory by Lara Dean-Brierly. She has a marvelous sense of language, and though she's only posted the first part, I can already see grandeur to come. Oh, I do adore fic that takes the characters out of Sunnydale ;).
And, of course, I'm loving Kimi's "Reminders" series. Just one more? Please?
cheers,
alanna

I've been following this story, Modus Vivendi by wiseacress, even though it doesn't seem particularly redemptive. And it focuses on Xander, who I dislike. And it's S/X set after season 4, which I would normally never read. (I started reading it out of curiosity because there were no notes explaining the pairing or time period). But the writing is so good and the plot is so intriguing that I can't stop reading it.

So typical - just had to see the heading WIP and couldn't resist posting...
Seem to spend most of my time waiting for installments to some WIP and because I am following that many I appear to be in a constant state of impatience.
Anyway, apart from most of the WIP's already mentioned I've also been following
Echidna - Grey Lines
http://www.angelfire.com/80s/echidna/index.htm
Mustang Sally and RivkaT
The Heart's Filthy Lesson and all its sequels
http://www.disenchantedkingdom.com/index2.html
MintWitch
Avatar
http://www.geocities.com/cxyzjacobs/btvsfic/avatarsindex.html
Annastasia
The Change Series
http://www.angelfire.com/blues/nanooc/Change
Btw - re. Lara Dean-Brierley, The Passage of Memory:
She's posted up to part 7 now. This is easily one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read. Her writing style is absolutely mesmerising.
