The plant had started to grow. Finally, she thought to herself, finally I have started to heal. The plant grew remarkably fast, breaking out of the soil with surprising ease. At first, it seemed to be a rose, but just before the bud opened to reveal it's beautiful, burgundy face, it twisted, and writhed, becoming an awful thorn sticking up out of the ground, grotesque and ugly.
She awoke suddenly, afraid. The dream didn't have any meaning, she knew, but it was still frightening.
She started out on a hunt, trotting over the ground swiftly, trying to avert her mind. But still, it was preocupied when she tripped over the dead tree limb. She hadn't seen it, hadn't known it was there.
A pain flew through her body, and her hind leg felt like it had split and flown into pieces. A howl of pure agony escaped her throat, and she fell back onto the hurt leg, causing more pain. She bit her lip, and pulled herself off of the leg with difficulty. Licking the leg, she mourned her loss.
With a sudden fear, she realized that she would not be able to hunt for some time. Could she possibly starve?
