Subject: Charles County Policeman Deserve Some Credit

You may not realize it, but it sounds like you are giving no credit to the hard working policeman of this county. They are doing a lot to prevent crime and your replies seem to indicate that there is not a whole lot of crime prevention going on right now.

In reference to Ms. Brookbank, the case was investigated for 20 months. What message do you think you are sending to the detectives who scrutinized all the people in the little boy's life and decided it was Ms. Brookbank who should be charged? They worked on this case for a long time before bringing it to court. Do you think they did a bad job on this case? Do you think the way to build rapport with the police force is to undermine their work and imply that they are not doing their jobs correctly?

The way to build rapport with the police is to be truthful with them. As you are probably aware my opponent lied to the police about my testimony on a bill they find very important. Not only did he lie to them he took credit for what my testimony accomplished. I will build rapport with the police by being truthful with them.

The police in Ms. Brookbanks case probably believe they did a good job. The overwhelming number of police officers do a good job. But in spite of their good intentions there are instances where innocent people have been convicted of crimes. Our system is not perfect.

The police are doing some very positive things in the area of crime prevention. The question is, why is our state's attorney (the lead law enforcement agent in the county) to lazy to get off his backside and do some crime prevention things as well. What can we lose by this?

Why is it that Joseph Curran, the attorney general for the State of Maryland, (See the Sept. 6 Washington Post voters guide)can go out and talk with young people about crime prevention and our state's attorney can't? There appears to be no crime prevention going on from our State's attorney or his staff.

[> Why is this now a Brookbank site? -- Laurie, 05:50:17 09/30/02 Mon (cache-dh07.proxy.aol.com/205.188.208.171)

Why all of a sudden has this site turned into a website about Nancy Brookbank? Do people not have other concerns about this county other than just that case? I am sure there are plenty of other cases the citizens are concerned about? I also find it interesting the people who are asking these questions are not listed in the phonebook are you really who you say you are, or do you all of other motives? One last point, Mr. Collins stated in the Washington Post that this job is not an on the job training position. Was that not what it was for him? What other job has he held that gives him so much expierence? I did not see much information in the Post about his past expierences.

Are you sure Joe Curran is the example you want to use?
