Subject: Where are you headed?

Where are you headed?

CAN a person know where he is headed? ~ Can he be sure that he is on the right road, the one that will make this life worth while and the next one secure in heaven? Can he know whether he is saved or lost?

Yes, this important information is furnished us in the Word of God. We may not know what lies immediately ahead, but we may know, positively, where we are going to spend all eternity. In spite of all the claims that "you can't know till you get there," the Bible says you CAN know.

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life" (I John 5:13).

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which ARE SAVED it is the power of God" (I Cor. 1:18). So we see that there are people who "are saved," and people who are not, also that God says "ye may know" that you have eternal life.

There are many human ways and theories of salvation. They point you in more directions than the weather-vane on the town hall. But all of these ways are vain and futile, for they are based, in one way or another, upon human effort or merit.

Some would have you try to reform and live better. Some would insist that you only need to go through some particular church or lodge ritual. But in Romans chapter three we learn that man is a corrupt and fallen creature, who neither seeks nor understands God, and who has gone out of the true way. He is incapable of meriting God's favor, for "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

God has only ONE way of salvation for sinners. His way is not based upon any human reform, but upon the finished work of His beloved Son, who was without sin or guilt, and who was qualified to die judicially in man's place before God, paying for man's sins with His own blood. For God "so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

God's way is bound up in the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who said: "I am THE WAY, the truth and the life: NO MAN cometh unto the Father but by Me." And again, "Him that cometh unto Me I will in no wise cast out." In all of man's futile ways, you are urged to try to hang on to your salvation. But if you receive God's salvation it will hang on to you.

Not only is it possible to know right now where you are headed, but you MUST know. Eternal Life is more than a promise; it is a state of being, a present exper ience. Either you have it, or you don't have it. Without it, you are forever lost!

"He that believeth on the Son HATH everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).

"He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, HATH everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but IS PASSED from death unto life" (John 5:24).

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (II Cor. 5:17).

Friend, God is willing to make you a new creature in Christ. If you are willing to come to Him as a guilty and undeserving sinner, He is willing to give you eternal life as a gift, bought and paid for on the cross of Calvary. For He says: "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

"As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name" (John 1:12). Won't you receive Him as your Saviour, now, before it is eternally too late?

I agree with you that faith alone in Christ alone equals Salvation. Great post!
