Subject: 2 KIAs, 2 sorry buyers!

Well, my boyfriend bought a 2003 Spectra after his 300ZX died over Thanksgiving. First thing, the rear sprayer was angled so as to drench any pedestrian, while totally missing the rear window! That got fixed, although the service dept was not sure how to proceed....

A few weeks later, I had to get rid of my Sable as it was dying. I went to the same dealership, and grabbed a cheap car I could get financed for.... a 99 Sephia with only 35K miles.

We both have had the cars back for the cd player not playing or ejecting the disc. Both of us got new players installed. OK.

My car developed a rattle under my feet. I had a feeling it was the catalytic converter....The sunvisor clip comes off when you pull the visor out. I just leave it hanging. I should have known when I saw the little circle that covers the hole in the shiftbox was gone, that the screwdriver trick was in evidence!

My mech said, "Oh, just wiggle the gearshift, it will go into gear." Riiiiiight. I have to pry at the box with the screwdriver, then hope it will work.

I have no overdrive light. THere is no light in the trunk. The clutch for the auto tranny seems to stick - after coasting, it surges and over rpms before settling back down.

The a/c has a funny odor, and the brakes, of course, squeal, grind, and chatter.
The service dept at our dealership never seems to have the time or enough people to do the work.

I took it in yesterday, and thankfully they said the catalytic is covered under the vehicles warranty, but they have to order the parts. They did an oil change, claim to have cleaned the brakes, and fixed the gearshift. Also, they said the plugs were yucky, so thy changed them out.

I had replaced the blades shortly after I bought it, the wiper portion was worn down to nothing!

Although the new Spectra seems to be an ok car for now, I am looking forward to trading the Sephia in for a Prius!
