Subject: 2011 Forte Cheaply built, poor gas mileage

On 04-28-2011, I bought a 2011 Kia Forte the gas mileage its rated for is 23-34MPG. I tried giving the car 700 miles for good fuel economy, I now have 1870 miles on the car and filled it up at lease 9 times at 13.5 gallons and still get 17 miles to the gallon.

On May 17th I inquired about the fuel economy of this vehicle with the Kia of Silver Spring Mgr. Laura Jerley, the sales person Heidy Murry and Kia Motors. Kia Motors stated the optimal mileage is only known after the break in period of 5-10,000 miles. THAT SUCKS

One of his service technicians stated that the catalytic converter could be bad and burning up. (The fact is poor fuel economy in today's newer engines that are made to get more than the 161/2-18mph can be caused by a defective, clogged or burned up catalytic converter, which is also a serious fire risk).

I saw on the internet previous owners of the Kia Forte say for the fuel economy to be good you MUST use the sport gear shifter package (Which I was told was completely optional by the salesperson Heidi Murry) (what a deceptive selling practice)

The Mgr. Laura stated that once you bought the car there's no recourse for a customer such as a refund or any relief. (meaning the customer is screwed)

From the GM Betty Ann, on down silver spring Kia, the King automotive group and any Kia cars need to be avoided. The fact is that they treated wonderfully BEFORE the check was given to them. The sales person Heidi Murray deceived me lying to me. King Automotive and Kia of silver spring will lie and use deceptive business practices in order to sell cars, than throw you under the bus after the check is cashed, and needs to be avoided when buying a car.
