There were several Hughes going by the sobriquet "le Brun" which may be the origin of the confusion. Also, the dates of birth, marriage, and death get mixed up between the two pretty often. Another reason might be that Hugh IX was married to Mathilda of Angouleme, maybe the women got mixed up too. Usually it's H IX for Mathilda and H X for Isabella. I'll look up some French sources when I find enough time.

Who was Adelicia, except John's grandma? I did a little digging for the private life of John and Isabella A and found a list of John's mistresses. There were quite a few, mean a lot though, the list isn't necessarily exhaustive and I had no time yet to verify it.
some of them even seem to have been installed as "official" mistress, and there are of course the two queens Isabella of Gloucester and "our" Isabella, but no Adelicia. Doesn't
