Subject: Welcome to the DFT User Group

Welcome to the DFT User Group
=================================

I have launched this forum for three main reasons:

(1)
To try to reduce my own workload.
With the increasing popularity of the DFT, I have been spending more and more time offering program support at the expense of program development and my own genealogical research.

I hope that experienced users will relieve me of some of this load by using the forum to offer help and advice to those experiencing difficulty. I shall of course monitor the forum and continue to contribute as required.

(2)
To allow users to seek and offer help in their own language.

All that I ask is that users use english wherever possible, as I don't want to see the forum fragment into linguistic sub-groups.

When a message is not in english and a user is able to provide a (rough?) english translation, I would be very grateful if they would post it as a reply to the message with 'Translation' as the message SUBJECT.

(3)
To stimulate discussion on the future development of the DFT

Anti-SPAM protection

As you do not need to include your email address when posting to the forum, your address cannot be accessed by spammers. Furthermore, the forum host (www.voy.com) states that the email addresses of individuals posting to the form will not be supplied to third parties under any circumstances.

===================================================
Unfortunately, the forum includes advertisments, but I cannot find a host which provides a free service without them.
On the positive side, the adverts do not use 'pop-up' windows (which I personally find very annoying) and
are relatively unobtrusive.

===================================================
As the forum is hosted by a US company (www.voy.com), the 'message date' uses the US format of "month/day/year" - so apologies to all users on my side of the pond, who will have to engage in a few 'mental gymnastics' to interpret the date correctly :-)

===================================================
Although the forum is normally accessed via the DftCom2 website, you may access it directly via:
http://www.voy.com/101797/

===================================================
In future, if I receive any directly addressed (non-personal) emails relating to the DFT, I will ask the sender for permission to re-post them to "DFT User Group" forum.

===================================================
If you have any comments or suggestions, please get the forum "off to a flying start" by posting them.
