Forest of Shadows
Whether you are merely feeling curious, brave, or have a death wish, you find yourself on the border of a vast forest. The largest concentration of trees on the isle of Volcano Villude, unruly spirits are said to dwell here, and the eerie howl of wolves is often heard threading through the dark night. You shuffle through the dark trees, and a scent reaches your nose. You turn around, and find yourself surrounded by a pack of dark wolves. Staring down at you is a huge, black male with piercing amber eyes. Several scars cross his muzzle, and he radiates power from his sensitive ears down to his huge paws. Hackles raised, he snarls and bites your jaw in dominance. Behind him, a misty-gray femme stands, silently glaring at you. The looming male speaks to you.
"...Welcome... This is the sole wolf pack of Volcano Villude, keepers of the Shadow Forest. I am Raven's Cry, the Alpha male, and this is my mate, Willow Mist."
The gray female nods, her aura matching her name. She can disappear into the shadows at will, but her sorrowful blue eyes are often enough to send a chill through any wolf's spine.
"Life is not giving for those of us still here. You must be skilled and determined to survive. Game is scarce, but we work together to get what we need. You shall see me again, but I have matters to attend to..."
She lopes off into the shadows, and with a flick of her silver tail is gone. The voice of Raven's Cry snaps you back to his scarred face.
"Well? Do you find yourself worthy of our pack, stranger? You can be greatly respected here, if you have what it takes."
He takes a step to the side, then pads into the darkness, leaving you alone.
