Yes, there are VERY MANY denominations. Obviously they can't all be correct in their teachings, possibly none of them are.
..... So what's special about the Lutherans? As I see it God allows all sorts of things to happen. God provided many rules and regulations and if people ignore them then consequences follow quite naturally without God having to do anything.
..... Martin Luther didn't save Christianity; only the totality of members can do that by OBEYING always and everywhere what God wants of all the members. Compare with a healthy human body in which ALL of the organs and cells do their appointed tasks not only to safeguard their own individual survival, but in the interest of the body as a whole.
..... Nobody is authorized to pick and choose which of God's requirements are to be obeyed and which can be ignored.
