Subject: Winnipeg Folk Festival

Though I have heard of Bob Geldolf for many years and admired some of the songs I have heard, this concert in Winnipeg really blew the top off for me. I am now a fan!!!

As an American who stands behind my president, my curiosity was piqued by a quote from Geldolf some weeks before the concert about how, like Bush or not, he is doing or proposing to do more for Africa than Clinton ever did.

Myself, an individual thinker, rather than a partisan political member, I thought this was a remarkably courageous statement coming from someone who is expected to "walk the line".

I could not help but notice that, given the forum of the stage at WFF, Geldolf chose to use the Soviet Union as an example of tyranny....Not Bush and the United States!

Yet, when Bob referred, obliquely, to Bush & Blair in his point that it is the "little man" who is to be praised for efforts to throw off despotism and tyranny, the crowd went wild in anticipation that Bob was criticising Bush & Blair.

It is no wonder that Bob is fed up with efforts by the Left to co-opt him in its war against the defense of liberty, or as Bob put it, "to save the entire fucking Universe."
