Subject: The Best Night Of My Life!

Bob's Toronto concert was possibly the best night of my life! And I just have to reiterate that his fans are some of the nicest people in the world! I met Louise, who wrote an excellent review of the show as well, and she's great! Very enthusiastic and a loyal fan, as am I. I had so many questions that I would have liked to ask Bob, so I'm asking the people who run this website if they think that Bob would agree to answer questions from his fans (nothing too intrusive of course!), using this website as a forum. Would all of you fans out there agree that this would be a great idea!? We definitely need to stir up more publicity for Bob because his publicity people aren't doing as much as they could. They should hire me! I'd commit my life to promoting him if it paid my rent. I'd like to know when we can expect a boxed set collection of ALL of Bob's recordings, solo and with the Rats? You'd buy it, wouldn't you? When will the Boomtown Rats album catalogue be re-released on CD? The only one I could find on CD is "Tonic For The Troops". I even looked in Dublin and couldn't find anything. That's a crime! Will there ever be a re-release of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" on CD or DVD? Could it be done in conjunction with the CBC "Drive" video montage from Live Aid? There should be a Live Aid DVD available for the fans. The "Do They Know It's Christmas?" CD should be available EVERY Christmas to keep reminding people that the drought in Africa isn't over and it should be making more money for the Band Aid Trust, or Drop The Debt, DATA, or any number of excellent charitable foundations. What do you think? What can we do to MAKE this happen? It SHOULD happen! It's so important! Too many younger people don't know who Bob is! That's just wrong! Your comments? Don't be shy! Bob is THE BEST and we all know it!

I've spent fruitless years trying to locate Boomtown Rats CDs, and like you, only ended up with "Tonic for the Troops" (plus the Greatest Hits collection). I finally had to buy a record player just to be able to hear the music again. I love my record player, but having the material in digital format would be *great*. How to make it happen? I dunno. Who owns the rights to it? (It's not necessarily Bob...)

And while we're at it, I'd really like to have all the Boomtown Rats/Bob Geldof videos on DVD. You know, I think the only one I've seen is "I Don't Like Mondays." (It was viewing that video that started my life-long fandom, so I really love to have a copy of it. And any others.)

As for DVD of Live Aid, of course that would be wonderful (especially as my videotape of the show is slowly but inevitably fading away), but would Bob want that, I wonder? At the time, I think, he really saw it as one-time event to raise emergency funds. So there were no follow-up videos or recordings back then. Of course, things change. If it ever was released on DVD, I think it would raise a lot more money for whatever good cause was deemed appropriate...

Tell me about it: Even trying to find sex, age & death in Montreal was an adventure. I started with HMV. They had zero Geldof albums, Music World said "bob who?", same with Future Shop and several other independant stores... I finally found my copy at Archambault.

Actually, that makes me think of the only thing that dissapointed me at Bob's Toronto show: they didn't sell any merchandise 8-(
I was ready with 200 bucks to spend, and I came back with the whole amount minus 5$ for a bottle of water!

It was also difficult to find SA&D on its release date in New York -- the same blank looks when Bob's name is mentioned, etc. Really disturbing. There was also NO merchandise on sale in New York which was a disappointment, but you can and should buy merchandise online and wear it all the time!!! Mondo Bongo CDs (oop)are going for upwards of $80 on half.com, btw - but I know all of us fans want to buy it the proper way and have the $$ (and knowledge that it's selling!) to Bob and co. I've been a huge fan since the late-70s when I was a teenage punk! - still remember the Rats on Uncle Floyd. It's great that this board is taking off--I finally have people to chat to about one of my favorite subjects!

...and I thought I was the biggest BG fan in North America. No way! Y'all put me to shame (in a good way). I'm so glad there's finally places on the net for us all to exchange ideas and appreciation. Thanks again to Gypsy, Ian, Chris...and a lot of others too.

5 MORE DAYS TILL I SEE BOB IN LA!!!!!!!
