Subject: NYC show--astounding!!

What a treat Bob's NYC show was! His energy level, enthusiasm, and raw emotion is incredible, particularly given the fact that this has already been such a long and grueling (physically and emotionally)tour. I knew Bob was going to take the piss out of us for the ridiculously small turnout BUT I echo previous sentiments that these shows are *not* being promoted properly;if they were, the turnout would undoubtedly had been much higher. Not sure whether he's reticent to court the US press after the empirical castigation he receives at the hands of their European counterparts, but I hope hope hope Bob at least does Howard Stern to plug the rest of the US shows. This is entirely too special a tour to be met with such lackluster attendance because many fans don't even know it's underway!!!! Also: I was really disappointed no Geldof merchandise was available at the show. I'm sure many of us were ready to snap up tees, etc. If the opening act can have t-shirts for sale -- come on! I would love to be involved in promoting the rest of this tour. Bob made this longtime fan unbelievably happy with such an amazing show ... a performance no one in attendance will soon forget!

Wow! I'm counting the days till the LA show! (6). I agree that the press coverage has been lame nationwide. I personally wrote to Entertainment Weekly and NPR's Fresh Air. No interest whatsoever in covering the album or the tour. I don't think they know what to do with Bob. They can't find a slot for him in their minds.

You're going to have the BEST time at this show! How great that you contacted EW and NPR. You're right, Bob doesn't fit into any prefab little box media-wise here in the States. Listen: At the time of the NY show I wasn't aware that he usually comes out afterwards to do a little meet and greet so I left right away, but I'm expecting *you* to hang out and meet him for both of us! ;-) Thanks for replying to my post...and I hope to hear from you by e-mail or on the boards after the show for your review!!!!

Oh yes, oh yes! We talked a lot. I gave him a Hank the Cowdog (kids') book to read to his 2 that are under 12. We laughed. We "B.S."ed. Old pals that never met before. Quite a moment for me. Quite a moment.

I'll be writing a longer review, but it will be a week or two before I finish it (like Bob, I'm a single dad--but I should be able to make enough time to get it done soon).
