Subject: Geldof on Gabereau

One more thing I heard today...Bob is doing a taping with Vancouver talk show host Vicki Gabereau this weekend and it will be airing on October 3rd. Set your VCR's people!

Gabereau's Web site has been recently updated, and it's still listing Bob as the *only* guest on the show that day. You gotta love that.

For those in Southern Ontario, it apparently airs on CTV stations from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.

Anyone in the Vancouver area doing double duty tomorrow -- seeing the taping of "Gabereau" in the afternoon, then the concert at night? (Not that I'd be jealous of any such people. Nope, not me. :-)

It was an amazing one hour treat, and thanks to satellite TV, I actually watched it 3 times in a row! And it also plays again at 4 and 6PM...

Was it just me or Gabereau didn't seem too comfortable? It was the first time I watched her show, so I couldn't tell, really. Was it Geldof's charm getting to her I wonder? ;-)

I watched the show too and I thought Bob was WONDERFUL! He was so eloquent, wasn't he? Although he seemed to have trouble looking at Vicki in the eye. I thought his versions of "One For Me" and "I Don't Like Mondays" seemed rather subdued, although beautifully sung, compared to the concert we saw. I've never heard him speak so frankly and honestly about his life, children, Paula before. Wow. I felt privileged. I wasn't thrilled about Vicki though...something about her just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe she was nervous or something, I don't know. It almost seemed as if she couldn't understand why the audience was going mad for Bob. Imagine?! And Bob's crack about most poetry being crap kinda stung me personally! Ah, he's probably right though! Do you think he has more than one of those blue pinstripe suits? Ha! Ha! Cheers folks.

I agree on all counts. Seems like he totally lost his voice at the end of Mondays though. I hope he's taking some time off before the rest of the tour...

We know now why he's so thin ;-)

I watched the show 3 times in a row, so that means I heard her say 15 times a variation of "They're really crazy about him, aren't they". It didn't help my opinion of her that she dissed Montrealers 8-( I didn't understand what Bob answered after that. He said something that sounded like "bitchippy". Anyone can tell me what he said and what it means? BTW, if anyone missed the show and would like to see it, Email me...

Yeah, I felt his voice was much better and stronger during the Toronto show I was at, but that was the *start* of this leg of the tour. I think his voice seriously needs a rest now. Nevertheless, nice performances, especially of "One for Me."

I can't complain about Vicki too much, personally. I mean, she did have Bob as the sole guest on her show. And she'd clearly done her research. (A lot of interviewers would not have bothered to read his book.) And she asked some questions that I hadn't heard others ask him before -- without getting into all of the tabloid-type stuff.

I believe Bob said that Montrealers were "a bit chippy," which means, I think, a bit brittle and sensitive.

(Which is a bit ironic, considering your comment! Not that *I'm* dissing Montreal, now -- I love that city. I went to university there.)

Anyway, I really enjoyed the interview, and will no doubt be re-watching it frequently...

Sensitive? yes. Angst? I don't think so. Obviously Bob's a good judge of character, even if only based on a few hours in a bus stop ;-)

Thanks for the translation!

I was fortunate enough to be a part of the audience on Vicki Gabereau and I was at the concert that night. He was amazing on both! In defense of Vicki, during a comercial break, towards the end of the show taping, after Bob had left, she turned to the audience and said, that some of us were too young to know of him, some were too old to care and a lot of us were in between, but how could anyone deny the sheer presence of such a great man after seeing the interview. She said she was caught off guard buy his candidness. She was not even going to mention Paula but he just started talking!

Did anyone happen to tape this? Or is there any other way a non-canadian like myself could get a look at this?
