I thought about this story a lot after I read it. It is wonderfully done on many levels. The idea of macro and micro fate is extremely Nietzschean. Rhade's attempt to change the fate of someone he cares for, even though he constantly sees her flaws, is doomed. Any decision Kylie makes will only take her to a place where Rhade feels he cannot save her. He successfully detatches himself from his feelings and pleasure seals her (his) doom. Loved the piece, so much more than the traditional Andromeda FF.
