Subject: Been a wild week in the MidEast

To start off, the IAEA issued a report in which they said Iran is flat out working towards nuclear weapons. Strong language for a UN body.

The Russian PM said that their govt is out of patience with Iran. They'll apparently support stronger sanctions - which doesn't mean much if the Chinese don't.

The Dutch govt came apart over how long their troops (1600 corps of engineers types building schools and hospitals) would stay in Afghanistan. The left insisted they come out now, would not compromise, so now there will be elections in a few weeks. The right will probably gain.

The Bundestadt issued a legal opinion that says the German govt cannot help bail out Greece, as there is no legal means by which they could invest money in another state. (not mideast, but powerful stuff)

General Oderino stated publically that Chalabi is working for the Iranians, corroborated by the US Ambassador to Iraq. The neocons blame Obama for "losing" Iraq, convienently forgetting whose baby Chalabi is and who kept pushing him into the new Iraqi government. Hint: Think neocons.

And Maliki is arranging to cheat on the elections, first by disqualifying all his opponents and second by sending the Iraqi army to occupy Tikrit. Tikrit is just down the road from here, a bit noisy in that direction.

Fast moving events, and hard to keep up.
