Ive thought the same thing..... the one in Spain took about 15 years to recover the fisheries. They still have tar all over their rocks on the beaches. I know of several people who have canceled their plans to go the gulf on vacation this year.

Boat traffic up the Miss. river will be an issue as well because the hulls have to be cleaned of all oil products before they can go up river to bring goods through the central coast. It will cost more to have to go around and then use rails to get stuff where its going. There are going to be many long term implications that havent even been thought of yet.
