Subject: Speaking of BP
In reply to: Paul Davis 's message, "Re: That's funny!" on 19:38:05 05/21/10 Fri

A couple of weeks ago, we watched "60 Minutes" as they interviewed one of the men injured in the BP explosion. He told of a major incident involving that failed safety cap device. One of the men approached a supervisor and said bits of rubber from a gasket-type part on the device. He asked if that indicated something serious was failing. The supervisor told him it was unimportant and not to worry about it. That was a major failure, one of many. Why not blame BP for cutting corners? Did you know BP is not allowed to operate in Great Britain due to a massive explosion at one of their sites there? They have a bad track record when it comes to safety concerns. They have a massive expansion taking place at the Whiting, IN facility 20 miles north of us. Will this latest disaster impact that? They're hiring over 1,000 people and a cutback will impact our economy.

It's never made any sense to me that as Big Oil continues to make record profits but escapes paying royalty fees to the federal government. Why is that? Is Big Oil another too big tp fail like AIG?
