rendered palpably erotic [and ultimately shocking] by . . . One would think one is talking about our Amanda as Lady Sylvia Marsh in "Lair of the White Worm," but one is talking about Carla Gravina as Princess Ippolita Oderisi in "The Anti-Christ." And if there is anybody plainer then our Amanda, then it is Carla Gravina. Which raises the question, who is more seductive, a beautiful woman who only has her beauty going for her, or a plainer woman who has that something extra about her?

Next week: a couple of historical precedents for the plain being more seductive then the beautiful. Until then . . . Enjoy!
