As further proof that the film most likely occurred over a weekend in March, 1988 . . .

Knowing
The film occurred over three nights. The night of the party, the night of Lord James' (Grant's) visit to Lady Sylvia (our Amanda), and Lady Sylvia's return visit to Lord James. With the film concluding sometime the next morning.

Presuming
The party occurred either on a Friday or Saturday night. The usual times for parties to occur. If the party occured Friday night, that would put Lord James, Angus (Capaldi), Eve (Oxenberg), and Mary (Davis) in the cave on Sunday, when there are more likely to be people there. On the other hand, if the party occurred Saturday night, that would put the four of them in the cave on Monday. When there is less likely to be people there. So . . .

We have the party on Saturday night, Lord James' visit to Lady Sylvia on Sunday night, Lady Sylvia's visit to Lord James on Monday night, with the film concluding Tuesday morning. All in March, 1988.
