"The Usual Suspects" is suppose to be a tightly plotted film, but, it leaks like a sieve, when compared to parts of "Lair of the White Worm," and I'll show you what I mean.
For about 10 minutes and 10 seconds you have 6 characters moving around in an area of 17,226.992 feet, or about a third of an acre, and there are 22 chances of them sighting each other, and how often do they sight each other. The only 4 we know about, are the ones we are told about in the film.
Eve/James saw Angus/Mary.
Angus/Mary saw Eve/James.
Kevin saw James' car.
Kevin saw Sylvias' car.
As for the rest . . .
Sylvia arriving at the farm. Kevin probably did not see her or her him.
Sylvia leaving the farm. Kevin probably did not see her or her him.
Sylvia and Eve/James arriving at the crossroads. It is probable that Eve saw Sylvia, and more probable that James saw Syliva, but it is it possible that Sylvia did not see Eve or James.
Eve/James arriving at the farm. Kevin probably did not see them or they him.
Angus/Mary arriving at the farm. Kevin probably did not see them or they him.
James leaving the farm. Kevin probably did not see him or he him.
James arriving at the crossroads and Kevin and Syliva already there. It is possible that James saw Sylvia, but it is possible that he did not see Kevin, because the British drive on the left, and the driver sits on the right. Both opposite of the side of the road Kevin was standing on. It is also possible that Sylvia did not see either James or Kevin.
Kevin arriving at Sylvia's parked car. It is possible that Sylvia did not see Kevin until he tapped on her car window.
Thus, of the 22 sightings, we have 4 definite, 1 probable, 1 more probable, 1 possible, 5 possiblely nots, and 10 probablely nots. As I said a tightly plotted film scene to get those results.
