Subject: Sexual Harrassment

"My God, Kevin. You have such appalling b.o. And save your breathe. You have halitosis, too."

If sexual harrassment can be defined as that which causes victims to experience feelings of shame and humiliation, then the above words, spoken by our Amanda as Lady Sylvia Marsh in "Lair of the White Worm" to Kevin, played by Chris Pitt, the boy scout in the film, would seem to apply as sexual harrassment.

While anybody can be a victim of sexual harrassment, and anybody can sexually harrass, I think most of us would agree that women are the most likely to be a victim of sexual harrassment, and most sexual harrassers are men.

While in films and on television, the second part holds true, from what I have seen, that most sexual harrassers are men, the first part does not hold true. Women are not the most likely to be victims of sexual harrassment in films or on television. Nor are men. Nor are girls. The most likely victims of sexual harrassment in films and on television are pre-teen and teenage boys like Kevin.

Next week: "The best, or is that the worst, examples of sexual harrassment in films and on television." Until then . . . Enjoy!
