5 foot two. Solid blue. The solid blue part is right, as she was solid blue in "Lair of the White Worm," but, she actually stands 5 foot seven. That may be tall for an actress, but that is not tall for an actor. Most of whom stand an inch or two under six feet or more. Even then, when you meet them in person, they seem small, as the big screen makes a person look even bigger.
I presume she got to keep the clothes she wore in the article.
And the room was comp. Though, 170 pounds per night doesn't seem like that much. I have stayed in resort rooms, where the price was a $1000 a night. And I know it goes up from there.
23,000 pounds per episode of "L.A. Law," doesn't seem like much now. Not when the stars of "ER" and "Friends" get paid in the six figures per episode.
"I cannot play certain roles that I find offensive, or which perpetuate the old ideas aout women." Forgetting her roles of femme fatale in "The Substitute" and "Lair of the White Worm," she is probably correct.
Also correct is her statement: "The trouble is, I'm not yet a resolved person, but, I'm getting there."
In the January 1990 issue of the UK magazine "Fear," she said her "most satisfying character" was Lady Sylvia Marsh in "Lair of the White Worm," ". . .which she remembers with the most affection."
Then some years later, most likely when she is appearing in London in "The Graduate," the film was ". . . something she wanted to forget." Which is it Amanda?
Another statement from the "Fear" article. ". . .the boy in the bath stuff, which is one of the classic scenes in film history." Yes, I can see it now. On the next television program dedicated to classic scenes from film history, right between Humphrey Bogart saying good-bye to Ingrid Bergman and Orson Welles' dieing word, we have ". . . Lady Sylvia [our Amanda] at her most wicked, [as she] bites off a young boy's penis, while he's taking a bath." ROTFL.
Until next week and "some more statesments by and about our Amanda" Enjoy this season's holidays.
