Ok. Yes it does work but I don't really believe it does a good job of proving that .999=1. When you subtract the X you ruin the whole thing. When you subtract X(.999 as u stated) you don't come out with 9.999. Oh darn! I forgot what i was going to say and what I just said doesn't make much sense.. I'll be back later when I think of it again to show why subtracting that X makes for a bad proof. Oh...was this it...When you subtract the X and then subtract the remaining number by another number you could come out with .999 equaling anything.
