Subject: Woohoo!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had an exceptionally great weekend. I spent most of my time in Elkhart, IN participating in a big crew meet with a bunch of other schools. It was out last crew meet. We didn't do as well as we hoped... only placed 3rd, but there were a ton of schools represented, so I guess it's not too bad. My hands have blisters on them, but the blisters don't hurt as bad as the open sores that were rubbed raw by the oars... it was fun! I don't even notice it anymore. Next week we start winter training, which is supposed to be really tough. From what I've heard, about half of the new members won't make it through the winter, so I'm looking forward to it. After all, I joined crew to stay in shape.
Tomorrow morning I get to get up early and fly a long cross country, from Lafayette, IN to Decatur, IL to Bloomington, IN and back to Lafayette, IN. It's a little over 250 miles, but after that I'll pretty much have my private pilot's license, so that'll be cool. I'll still have to pass a check ride and a FAA written exam, but that'll be a cake walk by now.
Anyhow, I haven't gotten a decent night's sleep for as long as I can remember, and the regatta (crew race) left me a little spent today, so I shall retire for the night and hopefully pull off 6 hours of sleep before I have to fly... ahhh... 6 hours will be nice.
It was a truly fun weekend though, and there's several cool girls in crew that I got to hang out with. I'm in an all-around good mood right now.
Peace.

Emrys
