A Chara, The October Fifth Association urgently needs to obtain a new computer system, a desk photocopier, and office furniture etc. We are therefore seeking financial support so that such essential equipment can be purchased at the earliest possible opportunity. Since our inception, some years ago, because of the nature of our work, and the need for personal security, our efforts have rarely grabbed the headlines. Our programme of action has included pro-active measures to assist researchers, authors and film-makers; a concerted focus on the on-going inquiry into Bloody Sunday, and more recently regular communications and assistance to republican prisoners and their families, at home and in England. These efforts, and more besides, relating to human rights and civil liberties, are quietly undertaken, on a totally voluntary basis. We hasten to point out that we are a totally non-party grouping, and greatly cherish our independence of any government, or commercial concern. This equipment will be used by members of our local executive, and volunteers who undertake projects on a daily basis for the civil rights cause. Above all we need your support at this crucial time because our workload has deepened dramatically, and we need to broaden out our network to meet the growing demands on our association.
