We know that despite the overwhelming difficulties Kyle faced, he was very much loved and brought great joy to his family and to all who knew him. He struggled bravely against insurmountable odds and shone a light of hope and joy all too briefly. We hope that at this writing the Northern Ireland Prisons Service has seen fit to release Ciaran McLaughlin for the short 72-hour compassionate release that is his right and not a privilege; and that he is allowed to bury his beloved grandson in privacy and with dignity.
