I think the most important thing that I've learned this week concerning Business and Professional Communication is that communication in the work place needs to be consistant with the guidelines and policies set forth by the department. Since I work in Education, I know that my communication must always be polite and professional around children. Children mimic adults and the adult staff have to be careful that their messages are positive and not demeaning to the students.

To become a better communicator, I would like to improve my fluent speaking skills. Sometimes it's difficult to find the right words to say, but I always keep a dictionary handy. It's fun to present children with a new word (like magnanimous) and to see them excited about using a new word.

Other topics that have come to mind have been:
> Attitude (having a better one)
> Promptness (being on time)
> Learning new technology
> Being more aware of current events/ trends
