STANDIN� TALL

Jacob walked into the barn and over to a stall. Inside was his gelding Travis. Jacob opened the door and Travis after giving Spain (The gelding in the next stall)a nasty look & a fierce whinny. Walked out past Jacob and stood patiently waiting to be cross tied. Jacob walked up to the tall Swedish warmblood and attached the cross ties. He brought his Jumping Saddle from the tack room and tacked Travis up, after grooming his glossy bay coat. He slipped the bridle over The geldings well sculpted head and buckled the nose band. Jacob Strapped on his helmet and led Travis out to the arena. He swung up into the saddle and gathered up the reins. He nudged Travis slightly with his heels and the big gelding walk forward in a large flowing gait.
Jacob was very pleased with Travis�s gaits as they continued with the warm up. When he picked up a canter Jacob noticed that he had a very big comfortable canter that was steady. The first thing that came to Jacob�s mind was the waves down on the beach. After a complete and very satisfactory warm up Jacob headed over to the jumping arena. It was set up with 2�6 Jumps that wouldn�t stress Travis a bit. Jacob studied the course for a sec before urging Travis to a canter. They cantered a courtesy circle and headed for the first jump. It was only an upright. Travis gathered himself and sprung over it with grace. Jacob collected the spirited gelding and cantered smoothly at the next jump, a big 2�6 spread. Travis(who apparently loved jumping) let out and soared over the fence. He stumbled slightly on the landing, but Jacob recovered him expertly and they made an excellent performance over the oxer, bounce fence, wishing well, barrels, brick wall & approached the last jump, it was a graded double wide and Travis would need a lot of energy and impulsion to get over it well. Jacob loosened the reins and lent forward in the saddle, letting Travis move into a controlled hand gallop. Travis approached the jump. Jacob gave him a kick at the foot of the jump and he leaped over it like a deer. Jacob brought him back through his gaits to a walk. Jacob praised him and patted his shoulder. He heard someone clapping and looked up to see Helen leaning against the fence and grinning. He walked Travis over to her and said �well�.?�. �You look really good on him� She replied looking up at her handsome son �You made a good choice with him�. �I think so 2� he said as he slipped off and led Travis into the barn. Where he gave him a good bath and a treat. Then he cleaned his tack and went to take a shower!
