Emily and Matt talked about their families on the way back to the barn. They learned alot about each other. "I wish you boarded at my mom's barn," She said," then we could ride together all the time." "Yeah, but it's kind of expensive and my mom has a barn of her own." Matt said.
"Yeah." Emily replied. All of a sudden, Flick bit Hugs. Hugs squealed and kicked at the little gelding. "HEY! KNOCK IT OFF FLICK!" Emily said to him,giving him a little slap.
"What was that?" Matt asked. "I don't know. Flick normal isn't like that. only when he's competeing for something does he bite." Emily said. "Maybe he was jealous." Matt said. "Hummm, maybe. Who know's for sure?" Emily said.
The rest of the ride home was quiet. They rode into the parking lot and dismounted. Matt's mom was waiting for them.
"Bye Matt! Thanks for coming! See you soon!" Emily said as she dismounted Flick. "Bye! Your welcome! I'll call you soon!" Matt answered. his mom helped him untack Hugs while Emily led Flick into the barn. After Matt left, emily groomed Flick and spent time with him. "Were you really jealous Flick?" she asked him. Flick nickered gently and nuzzled her. Emily knew that Flick had been jealous, not because she had ridden Hugs but because of all the attention she was giving Matt. She put him away and gave him a treat. then, her mom walked into the barn..
