I walked into the Barn at Timeless Farm. Joey and Jonathan
were already tacking up. "hi guys. Joey, we jumped Mr. Snazzy hard Mon, so today we're going to go easy on the jumping, ok?' "Ok, your the teacher." joey replied.
"What about me?' jonathan asked. "You didn't jump 4ft right?" I asked teasingly. 'No." He replied. "Thyen you'll jump a 2ft course." i said. They finished tackng up and we went to the hunter ring. The boys mounted and walked their mounts to the rail. They walked their horses around for a couple of mins before I told them to trot. "do lots of circles both of you. It gets your horse limber and bending as well as balanced. Check your diagonal Jonathan." I said.
Jonathan sat 2 beats while Joey did a 1/2 ring cicle. they troted around some more, warming their horses up. "Good, boys. Walk both of you and Jonathan step into your canter."
Jonathan leaned forward. "Sit up Jonathan. look up." I said.
Jonathan did what he was told. He cantered around a few time before I told him to walk. "Joey, your next." Joey cantered around nicely. He too cantered around a few times before walking. "Good job both of you. Both of you drop your stirrups. Jonathan, I want to see a sitting trot; Joey, I want to see a posting trot. Both of you, heels down, legs quiet, hands low and steady. Ok?" They both said ok as they dropped their stirrups and trotted. Jonathan bounced around and tried his best to stay still. Joey did well. "Ok, Jonathan posting Joey sitting!" I called out.
Joey bounced around alot and Jonathan did his best. "good, both of you walk. Jonathan, you may pick up your stirrups.
Joey canter." They both did well. I had jonathan canter then. After they caught their breath, I had them trot a warm up line. joey did it without stirrups a few times. Jonathan did a 2ft course. They cooled their horses off and untacked them. They did really well. "Next time, we're going to ride out in the open." I said as I said goodbye and left.
