I walked down to the barn with the girls. "who do you want me to ride for my lesson,Mom?" Emily asked. "Umm, how about
Flick." I said. I helped Holly groom Mini while Emily got her horse ready. I walked out to the ring with the girls. I held their horses while they mounted. I put 2 crossrails up for Holly and made a line of trotting poles for Emily. "Ok, trot." I said. Flick moved along nicely. He was on the bit and responing to Emily's cues. Mini was her normal, perfect self. "Check your diagonal Holly!" I said. I heard an opps as Holly sat 2 beats. "Do lots of circles with Flick Emily."
I said. Both my my daughters have near perfect equitation. I wish I was like them. "Ok, Flick canter." I said. Flick broke to an even, smooth canter. He arched his neck and made Emily look like she was riding a highly trained horse.
"Holly, heels down. I want you to canter now. Try to feel your lead." I said as my youngest daughter went by. "Emily, walk!" I said. "Right or Wrong Holly?" I yelled out. "Wrong," she yelled back. "Fix it!!!!" I said. Holly troted 2 beats and got the right lead. "Ok, emily reverse and trot. Give Holly the rail." I said. Holly cantered a bit more before she walked and reversed. "Emily canter." I said. Again, Flick was awesome. She let him walk and Holly cantered again. This time, she got the right lead. She cantered around a few times before walking. Emilt trotted Flick over the line of poles. He was good. Holly trotted over the one crossrail. she did the whole line then. Since it was good, we quit there and Emily congradulated her. The first words out of Holly's mouth where," Mom, when do I get to jump a course of jumps?" I told her not for awhile. We hosed the horses off and grazed them. We put them away and went back up to the house.
