I heard a car pull into the parking lot. "It must be Joey and Jonathan" I thought. Sure enough, it was them. "Do you guys want to be jumpers or eventers today?" I asked them.
"Umm, Jumpers." they both said. "Ok, tack up your horses and meet me in the hunter ring." I said. They nodded and finished unloading their horses. I set the jumps while they groomed and tacked up. After about 10 minutes they rode over the hill. I met them at the gate and opened it for them. "You guys can trot." I said closing the gate. They set off at a trot. Joey did a 1/2 right circle to spread out. "Jonathan, hands upright and still. Keep your thigh close to the saddle." I said. "Ok!" He yelled from the other side of the ring. "Joey, try to get him on the bit." I said. They boys rode around the ring. Their postions were good. Mr Snazzy was finally on the bit and moving nicely.
"Good boys!" I said. A couple more minutes went by before Joey and Jonathan both cantered. "Joey, hands still. Try to keep your lower legs steady." I called out. He tried his best. They went around the ring a couple of times before they walked. They then reversed and cantered. Their postions were better this time. They went around 3 times before walking to catch their breath. Once they caught their breathe, I had they each do a couple of warm up fences before they jumped a course. Jonathan almost fell off when Thunderbolt stopped at the haybales. Fortunatly he grabbed a hold of his horse's neck and stayed on. After that, every ting went smoothly. They cooled out their horses and headed back to the barn. Dana had to run a few erands so I showed them Patriot and my other horses. When Dana got back I helped them wrap and load their horses. I said goodbye and they drove away. I then fed the horses...
