Subject: Sled dog in the South

My husband and I have bought a dog that was sold to us as an Alaskan Malamute. We are not sure that he is full blooded. He is 8 months old and weighs 108 lbs. at the moment. He is white and I've seen photos of others that look like him. Long legs, the fur is thick, but not a double coat on the back. I recently saw a photo of a sled dog that looks like him, named Mailman, owned by Ryan Redington, the Jr. Iditarod winner. My question is if anyone has an idea of what his ancestry could be, please tell us. We think there may be wolf involved or shepard. Thanks for any info you can give.
