Subject: It was just two years ago or so that the pope declared that catholics can believe in evolution. I think that the reason was that he couldn't contradict science more; otherwise the church would lose many believers. From all the scriptures,saints etc.. i found only saint Francis to be clearly for the respect of nature and the animals.

I know that catholics don't place as much emphasis on the Bible as protestants do. Protestanism emerged in an era where the Bible was not allowed to be owned by the people. Only the clergy was allowed to have it, and many conspicuous contradictions between catholics or other christians and christian scriputes still exist.

and at the time of that saint, the church used to persecute him, as usual, calling him demonic or other ignorant things, as they used to do with most scientists and even people who they used to burn and later name "saints". (NT)chadi21:48:04 01/06/03 Mon
