You quite remind me of little Bertha. She was the "love" daughter of Lord Waddlesworth and his maid Marie. Naturally, the righteous people of Saint Mary Mead ignored her save the occassional dirty look or snide remark. Nobody would let their decent Christian children, born in wedlock, to play with her. She was despised and grew up to become a common hooker. She eventually killed a "john" in a knife fight after he compared her unfavorably to a rotund transvetite prostitute from Belgium and was executed (this was in the days before bleeding hearts did away with the death penalty).

My story: Once upon a time, there was a five year old girl who was unwanted by her parents and by everyone else in town. She was a horrible, disgusting child who often sinned and had snot all over her face. When other children taunted her, the adults laughed and encouraged them. One day, she ran away from home and everyone in town lived happily ever after.
