sorry, but I object:
my mind is that people should be discussing the matrix a lot more, and by saying this I don't just mean the movie series itself but the relation of the story and some of the ideas in there and your very life, way of thinking, whatever.
the matrix is about where we are coming from and where we are moving towards. it's the ideal platform for starting philosophical meta-thinking, but then probably you think 'us lesser minds' would not be able to follow your quotes or what...

to that point about religion someone else brought up: I think you can look at it from different ways. there are a lot of parallels between biblical christianity and some of the events during the plot of matrix and reloaded. but personally I would rather put buddhism down as the base, due to the question about fate vs. choice. is our life predetirmined or do we form the path that lies ahead of ous ourselves? is causality the only truth, and is it true that there is no escaping purpose? that we are all driven by 'cause and effect' and the only satisfaction/truth can be to find out WHY we made the choices we have?

oh boy you see, those discussions can't be ended by exchanging a few notes, that's why there are thousands of these forums about the matrix. and this is not even going into the plot of the movie series which would easily fill another forum too.

so now, go ahead and call me an idiot too.....
