If operator was saying to me, "hey, wouldn't it be cool if the matrix actually DID exist?" then I wouldn't care. There's plenty of fantasy worlds that I wished into existence at one time or another. In fact, without that type of wishful thinking, movies like the matrix would never be made. But a wish is far different than a belief, and operator is playing it as though he believes it. Now that is a very dangerous thing. Wars have been fought because of unfounded beliefs. Children turn killers because of unfounded beliefs. Now I doubt operator would ever go so far, but it's not to say he isn't hurting himself by believing in such things. If taken too far, he'll neglect his life in the real world. School, job, personal relationships, all things far more worthy one's time then trying to believe in some imaginary tale. THAT'S what I'm trying to get across.
