很多人也對祭祖行為有誤解,
認為這是迷信鬼神的行為.

孔子說:「敬鬼神而遠之」
世人往往以此來批評孔子支持祭祖的矛盾,
這主要是源於世人的誤解,
其實兩者並無矛盾.

其實祭祖的目的不是甚麼祖先保佑,
而是源於中國文化精神中的「孝」.

人之孝，表示人之生命精神之能返而顧念其所自生之本。由孝父母，而及於父母之父母，及於祖宗，於是人之生命精神，可上通於百世，宛若融凝無數之父母祖宗以為一。

祭祖其實是一種尊重自生之本的行為,
目的並非借怪力亂神之力, 儒家提倡這種「孝行」,
主要目的也是維持一般人的道德水平.
