It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders! That's a good start! Rottweilers are awesome dogs IF you know how to work with them. You need to be a dedicated, knowledgable owner to begin with. Having a dog of this size is a big responsibility. First, research the breed. Find out what your getting into. Read all you can about training. I recommend getting a puppy to start. They are like clean slates, you can train them from day on without any prelearned behavior that you don't like..(such as ripping your sofa to shreds because your doing the dishes and not playing with him/her) Getting the picture here? :) When you do decided to get one....YOU ARE THE BOSS. YOU are the pack leader. Have a loving heart but a firm hand. No, I'm not saying hit your dog, but set limits. If you do not set limits, your dog will not respect you and you will have problems. Also, will you have the time and money needed if your dog comes down with parvo, (rotties get this quite easy. I know I lost my Lady recently to this) Seriously think about this please. Getting a rottie is a HUGE responsibility. If you have any questions, please, feel free to email me!
