In the article about homepages on the internet I couldn't help but wonder, what about false identities? I don't know what Goffman says about false identity or if he would even deem it possible to portray oneself falsely. If there is no self, how can you "fake" it? I guess he may call that being a wise guy. Either way, on internet homepages, I wonder how many people are lying in their portrayal of identity? And what effect does this have on the establishment of selfhood in internet technology. This may be a medium in which your actual self is unimportant compared to your portrayed self.
