I would like to believe that I am always authentic however there are certain people or situations where it is difficult to be genuine without hurting someone. People need to be fake to avoid unnecessary conflict and drama that is not worth the energy. it is also good to be able to express built up emotions when the time is right where it would not included the third party. Many times when someone is being fake or when I know I am being fake, it is hard to move on and have a good time. Being fake can fester, especially when you are annoyed or irritated with something or someone around you. The best policy is to be genuine and authentic at all possible times but interpret the situation and react.
