Upon hearing his name drafted at the #17 position by Yellowknife in Saturday's draft, Marek Zidlicky didn't exactly look ecstatic. This left many questioning his desire to play in Yellowknife. Sure enough, these rumors were true. When interviewed by the Yellowknife Sun, Zidlicky whined "It's so cold there. I don't think I can make it. I don't wanna go.. Waaaaaah."

Blades GM Neil Hayes, upon hearing this interview, decided that his scouts may have misinformed him about Zidlicky. "I thought he was a good player, with a good head on his shoulders and a resilient personality. I guess he is just a good player."

This paved the way for Zidlicky to be dealt. "We don't have any room for players who don't want to be here" stated Hayes. "If someone doesn't want to be on a championship team, then that is their problem. I felt we needed to move Zidlicky quickly, so that he was not a distraction to the team and so that Zidlicky didn't continue his whining. What a baby."

Hayes quickly got on the phone with Jeff Grothier, GM of Whitehorse. "I thought, if he is whining about the cold, lets trade him somewhere else that is also cold, and it should be funny to hear him whine and distract one of our rival teams" laughed Hayes.

In return, Yellowknife shored up their goaltending for the future acquiring young star Rick DiPietro and Whitehorse's 1st rounder in 2007, for Marek Zidlicky and Winnipeg's 2nd rounder in 2006.

Overall, Hayes is happy with the trade and wishes Zidlicky frostbite in Whitehorse.
