(SASKATOON)-Milan Hejduk scored a hattrick, Eric Lindros had 6 points and Marian Hossa tallied 5, as the Halifax Harpoons pummelled the Saskatoon Silos 10-2 in front of a capacity crowd of 18,100 at the Silodome on Saturday night. Leading 2-1 after the first period thanks to goals by Brian Leetch and Hejduk for the vistors and Martin Gelinas for the homeside, Halifax exploded for four goals in the second while Saskatoon could only muster a single marker.

Greg DeVries got things started off on a three on one with Joe Thornton and Shawn Bates at 5:23 then Peter Bondra clicked on a one timer set up by Thornton on the suddenly dangerous Halifax powerplay at 10:49. Dave Lowry got that one back at 1:35 when he lifted a shot over a spawling Sean Burke during a goalmouth scramble to make it 4-2. However two goals late in the period by Hejduk again on a wraparound and Keith Carney on a screenshot put the Harpoons up 6-2 and spelt the end of Joclyn Thibault's night.

Dwayne Roloson started the third period and was immediately put to the test as Theoron Fleury took a double minor for cutting Peter bondra with his stick 45 seconds into the frame. The visitors pounced with first Jeff O'Neill blasting one past the goalie from the top of the circle at 1:21 and then Marian Hossa deking the netminder backhand after being sent in all alone by Thornton at 2:21. Halifax, which dominated the third period 14 shots to 2 continued to shell Roloson and at 9:37 Eric Lindros bulled his way past Filip Kuba to cut in front of the goalie and score on the backhand. Milan Hejduk then got goal #3 at 17:42 when he flipped an Eric Lindros rebound into the open side of the net to close out the scoring.

The win took back home ice for the Harpoons which had lost it thanks to a 7-3 defeat at the hands of the Silos in Halifax. "We did what we needed to do here," stated Rob Blake, who assisted on Peter Bondra's marker. "We needed to get back home ice advantage and we did that. Now we can go for the jugular in game four."

Milan Hejduk continued his hot streak of late notching a hattrick and an assist. "It's very easy to score into open nets, I just happen to be there at the right times," the games first star explained.

"I really liked how the team didn't let up in the third period," commented Coach Andy Murray. "We all know how dangerous this Saskatoon team is. You have to keep your foot on the neck of a team like this, they can score goals in a hurry."
