(HALIFAX)- That sound you just heard was the other shoe dropping in what has been a fairly busy month of dealing for the Halifax Harpoons. After netting 3 first rounders, a second and Nik Antropov for Ilya Kovalchuk and Peter Bondra, GM Stephen J. Holodinsky moved a pair of first rounders and a second to Quebec for the top pick in the 2004 draft.

All of the picks from Halifax, the Harpoons dealt away their first rounders in 2007 and 2009 as well as a 2nd in 2009 for the right to pick first overall in the coming selection process.

"We feel there is a player out there who will in the end be head and shoulders above the rest of the draft class and we would be remiss if we didn't try to get him," explained the GM. "We feel that this player, once he's over his injuries could even be as good as Ilya (Kovalchuk), although we forecast him as more defensively responsible. He's definitely worth waiting for."

For his part, Quebec GM Dean Belanger was only too eager to get rid of the pick. "The evil genious Stephen J. Holodinsky obviously has his eye on a certain player who our advance scouts have soured on. They seem to feel that he has SARS or something like us and have urged me to go in another direction."
