(HALIFAX)-The Halifax Harpoons continued their pre-draft dealing today by sending defenseman Brent Sopel and the 34th pick in tomorrow's GWHL Entry Draft to the Winnipeg Wolves for the 21st pick, the 29th pick, prospect David Hale and the right to sendHarpoons defenseman Ken Klee to a Russian Hockey School run by the Winnipeg organization.

Sopel, a 3rd overall pick by Halifax in 2003, was a member of the Hoser Cup winning team of 2004. Hale is seen by many in the business as a take no prisoners physical defenseman with a little offensive upside, quite the opposite of Sopel.

"We were looking for a way to procure more picks for the draft and with the signings last year of Ken Klee, Eric Desjardins and Cory Cross we could afford to deal from our blueline," commented Halifax GM Stephen J. Holodinsky. "We feel that eventually David Hale will be able to fill Brent's spot on our blueline and at this point in his career he has demonstrated that he can be responsible without the puck."

"This was a calculated risk at great cost," spoke Wolves GM Collin Budd. "The Wolves organization feels that with the current rebuilding structure, Sopel will be a long term keystone and worth all that was paid."
