Victoria continued their undefeated start to the season with a 4-2 victory in Montreal last night. This one started slowly, with the Toems falling behind by two in the opening stanza and generally looking atep off the pace. But the middle frame saw them tie things up and the third saw them salt away the victory with two more. Trevor Linden led the way offensively with 2 goals, and Scott Gomez added two helpers.

Following the game Victoria announced a minor deal. Veteran blueliners Stan Neckar and Marc Bergevin headed to Saskatoon in return for prospect Alexei Smirnov. Mike Keenan was asked to comment: "marc and Stan are both good team guys but there was simply too much of a logjam on the blueline for them to see any icetime with the big squad. This deal gives them the chance to see some big league icetime and allows us to restock the farm system a bit."
