The Charlottetown Islanders today sent leading scorer John Leclair out west to Saskatoon. In return the Isles picked up Mark Recchi and Tyson Nash. Recchi is a ufa at seasons end but GM Vansickle has no plans to let him go. The Isles also save 3 million in salary for Leclair this season and rid themselves of his 5 year contract as well.

When contacted about the trade GM Vansickle explained that this move allowed him the ability to shape the team in a new direction. The team had over 35 million commited to Leclair, who has had injury problems, so this will allow them some freedom to improve over the next few years.
