The Saskatoon Silos enter Saturday's GWHL Draft with a passel of picks in hand, and hopes of creating a brighter future for the team.

Silos' GM Ken McKenna has five picks in the 2003 Draft, including one 1st round choice, three 2nd round picks, and one choice in the 3rd round. Given the club's collection of solid, young defensemen, it's expected that McKenna and his scouts will work on shoring up some of the club's depth at the forward position, while also keeping an eye out for their goaltender of the future.

"With young players like Regehr, Jackman and Volchenkov in the pipeline, there is not an immediate need for us to draft a d-man", stated McKenna. "That doesn't mean we won't take one, of course, but our main focus will be on adding some talented forwards."

Will there be any draft day trades? "Possibly, but only if it fits in with our rebuilding plan. We'll probably be looking for some younger guys if we do make a trade, or possibly draft picks in future drafts."
