I really don't know what is causing the problem,
Can you tell me if the problem also occur using indirect scan modes (DBDiskTree, DBDisk and DBSearch) or only in the direct Scan mode, DiskTree?
If only in the DiskTree mode try to determine the file that is causing the problem.

And no, PDFE don't use System32 folder or any other folder than is folder and System temp folder.
Are you using the last build, V1.5 build 40?
